Entry 1 - Plane geometry in F1 team logos
Geometry is here, there and everywhere... and the sophisticated world of Formula 1 is no exception.
Let's start from the basics and see how many plane shapes can you spot in the logos of the 10 teams which take part in the 2021 F1 championship.
ALFA ROMEO
In the logo of this legendary Italian team there are two perpendicular lines, a big circunference & small-sized circles.
Can you see them? Tell us their colours to prove it.
ALPHA TAURI
ALPINE
In the logo of Fernando Alonso's new team we can find concurrent lines, as well as a transversal one, a paralelogram and an isosceles triangle.
Can you identify them? Are there any perpendicular lines?
ASTON MARTIN
In the logo of this luxurious British car brand, very well-known for the James Bond saga, we can spot a rectangle and several concurrent lines.
Among them, are there any perpendicular? Use your protractor again to prove it.
FERRARI
The world's most famous car brand and the most successful team in F1 history. In Ferrari's logo we can find two concurrent lines, but what stands out the most is the legendary Pricing Horse.
If we take a close look at it, we will see each one of it legs form a different angle. Could you measure and classify them?
HAAS
The American team's logo stands out by its simplicity.
Name all the geometrical elements you can find on it.
MCLAREN
Alongside Ferrari, it is arguably the most iconic team in Formula 1 history.
In which letters of its name can you find straight angles?
MERCEDES
The Silver Arrows. The most dominant F1 team of the XXI century and one of the most prestigious car brands worldwide. Its stunning logo is a three-pointed star surronded by a circunference.
Could you tell us the degree of each angle formed by the star? And the circunference's amplitude?
RED BULL
This wild Austrian brand founded its own F1 racing team in 2005, and is fair to say they have been quite successful since.
How many parallel lines can you see in its logo? Is there any plane shape hidden in it?
WILLIAMS
Let's finish with a fallen giant of the sport. The British constructor has its initial as a logo, but...
What is the name of the figures which form the two extremes of it?
